New RAS feed targets the bottleneck in marine nurseries

BioMar announces a new RAS feed concept, LARVIVA ORBIT, that aims to improve the efficiency of marine nurseries. It will support an industry move of a prolonged time at hatchery for fry before they are transferred to sea. This will aid in the expected acceleration in the use of RAS technology in marine nurseries, and thereby support the development of hatchery businesses for marine fish species.

New positions for strong BioMar profiles

In line with strategic aspirations of growth, BioMar is now establishing a fourth division embracing activities in the Asian region, including Vietnam and China. With over 30 years’ experience in aquaculture, François Loubere will assume the role as VP Asia, while Luis García Romero will take over the role as MD for West Med & Africa.

Sustainable aquafeed with marine microalgae

Early results from the “Alga4Fuel&Aqua” research project, in which BioMar Hellenic is participating, indicate that a mix of the microalgae species Schizochytrium sp. and Nannochloropsis sp. can fully replace fish oils in sea bream feed.

BioMar scales up RAS and fry feed production in Denmark

BioMar announces the new production line in Brande, Denmark, is now fully operational. The line is dedicated to RAS and fry aquaculture feed production and is the result of a DKK 100 million investment that has enabled BioMar to increase the annual capacity of the Danish facility by 25%.

BioMar achieves a 5 year average Fish In:Fish Out ratio of below 1:1

High use of trimmings and the use of novel ingredients has enabled BioMar Group to achieve a five-year average of 1:1 or below Forage Fish Dependency Ratio for its raw material usage. This is one of many findings revealed in its Integrated Sustainability Report for 2019, released today.
